Membership!

As we meet again for another year, let’s not forget what draws us together in the first place. The best way to continue the camaraderie and brotherhood is to ensure that you have submitted your membership application, and send the membership dues to the BELKNAP Association. If you should have any questions as to why you should join the BELKNAP Association, direct your questions to the Current USS Belknap Association officers.

Reunion 2007: Norfolk, Virginia!!

The 2007 BELKNAP Reunion will be held the third weekend in October in Norfolk, VA. Specific details regarding this reunion will be made available as we get closer to the reunion date. Registration forms will be made available on the BELKNAP website a few months prior to the reunion. So, plan ahead, re-work your schedule, take care of the kids/grandkids, and meet us in Norfolk. Let’s get back to where many of us met the BELKNAP for the first time (and spent at least part of our military careers). Hope to see you all there.

Remember When...?

I am running this again, as I didn’t get much response the first time. Come on, Battlecruisermen, lets have some sea stories.

How may times have we, as sailors heard a story that started “Remember when…?” and then heard some incredible, funny, heartwarming or just plain ridiculous story? I know I have started some sea stories just that way myself. So here is your opportunity to offer your story for the Battlecruiser News. Let’s share our memories and relive them here in this forum. For example, I remember when MM2 John LaValla and a few other senior MMs decided to hold a sit down strike on the mess decks after hearing that M, B, and E divisions would be put into port/starboard duty sections. It was enough to inspire Capt. Alexander Krekich to make a visit to see what was going on. I don’t know if this was ever done before… and after talking to the captain, we ended it. But, if memory serves me correctly, we ended up in 3 section duty sections, not port/starboard.

If you wish to submit a story, or just relive your memories of life aboard the USS BELKNAP (CG-26), please submit them to the webmaster at USSBelknap.com. All submissions will be proof-read, edited for content (mainly for punctuation, language, etc.), considered (with regard to length for a newsletter item), and we will run them as we are able...
